Brother
and Sister Cirks Served as Caretakers 2002-2011
Brother Cirks is a mechanic by trade and brought many
pieces of equipment back from the dead. There was always something to be
done i.e. burning downed timber, mowing grass, anything to improve the beauty
of God's dedicated land. His most memorable time was during the Young
Women's Camps.
Some projects were: nursing station, fenced in
showers, screened in doors on Sariah Shelter, screened in entrance at Winter
Quarters, the arch bridge, new trail to the amphitheater, landscaping around
the house, and the zip line across the pond.
Camp Alpine was such a delightful place to live
especially in the winter. The visits from the coyotes, bobcats, mountain
lion, deer, and bear were always a treat to see.
A very exciting time was when a storm downed a huge
tree into the creek. It was Elder Ken Larsen from Philomouth Ward that
received the inspiration on how repair the creek. The inscription on the
wall "I Believe" is his inspiration. It was an honor to
work with him and Elder Mel Thompson of the Springfield Ward.
